Newburyport Yankee Homecoming, August 3, 2004
A number of Team Gloucester runners braved the heat on Tuesday and the much reknowned Newburyport Yankee homecoming.
Greg Lowe was the too Team Gloucester finisher in the ten-mile race, finishing 167th in 1:09:38, squeaking under 7:00 minute pace with a 6:58 average. Bob Gillis was next in 187th and 1:10:27, averaging 7:03 minute miles. Steve Davis (of the Merrimack Valley Striders) was 236th in 1:12:05, and Peter Vadala (of the BAA) came in 275th with a 1:13:38. Layce Alves (of the North Shore Striders) stuck to her pre-race plan and coasted through in 1:19:15...looks like Alves will also be making an appearance in Beverly.
Rob Anderson averaged just over 9:00 minute pace for a 1:30:10 finish. We've got to get this guy, who is Ciolino's cousin (but then who isn't?), a shirt...maybe he'll even write 'Team Gloucester' on his race application. PIxie Harrington ran sub 9:30 miles to finish with a time of 1:34:14.
On the 5k course, Kathy Burley was 6th overall and tops in her age group with a time of 20:25.
