The Hibernian 5k, Peabody, MA
A few of us went out to try the Hibernian 5k this past Sunday inPeabody. Or, as some of you may recall, the "Irish people who wear funny hats". No regrets, it was well organized and fell on a beautiful day. I was surprised to see such a competitive turn out in such a small race.
Last year's winner and coarse record holder John Hinchion held on to his title for one more year with a finishing time of 16:17. Soon to follow was our very own team Gloucester member Wes Lassen with a time of 18:22 (and then a bunch of other runners that aren't worth mentioning)!
As for "Alves vs. Geary", I managed to hold on to the bragging rights for one more race. But I'll hand it to him; Geary did put up a good fight! I could see him out the corner of my eye right up until the finish.
The final times were Alves 20:10 and Geary 20:24. We all came home with hardware!!! Dave and Wes both won 3rd in their age groups and I took home 1st in mine as well as the title of second overall woman.
As for the rest of you people who sissy jogged around Ravenswood, watch out-- we've got a head start on this year's racing season!
