The month of May's first fine day in weeks shone on Wachusett Mountain for the running of the Mt. Wachusett 4.3 mile race in the ongoing mountain series on the 28th.

Team Gloucester sent a five person contingent, team regulars Dave Geary , Peter Vadala and Peter Watson and Rockport's Bob Lindberg and Greg Lowe of Lynn who does a lot of his running here on the Cape. Greg and Dave led the way finishing 45th and 46th respectively with times of 35:13 and 35:18. Bob was third in the group at 56th with a 35:56 and Peter Vadala was 79th with a 37:48. Peter Watson was 139th of the 197 running with a 43:58, one second off his 2004 time.

Wachusett is the 2nd shortest run of the mountain series to Ascutney. But unlike Ascutney which is straight up all the way Wachusett after a steady one mile climb at the start has its ups and downs to the summit.

Paul Low and Kara Haas won with a 25;28 and 30:24 respectively. Dave Dunham and Cathy Pearce mastered the masters with a 28:20 and a 31:27.

The Pack (Monadnock) is back this Sunday. Watch the website for car
