Nitty Gritty
The Ravenswood Trail Race is a 4.1 mile trail in Ravenswood Park, run over a mix of carriage road and single track trails. Over the course of the race you'll hit swamps, boulder fields, ocean vistas, beautiful foliage, and of course, a couple of scarecrows. Due to the trail conditions we ask that you not run with pets, and the trails are not suitable for strollers.
Packet Pickup will be at the New England Running Company on Saturday, October 15 from 9:30-5:00, and at the start/finish area the morning of the race. All competiors picking up their number at New England Running Co. will be entered into a raffle to win a pair of Salomon shoes.
The race starts at 9:00. Please park at the Magnolia Woods Soccer fields, which are located directly off of Western Ave/127 about 1/4 mile from the main entrance to Ravenswood Park.
Limited Entry
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO DAY-OF RACE REGISTRATION. ALL RUNNERS MUST PRE-REGISTER.
Many of the trails used in the race are technical single track; to protect both the trails and the runners, we will close registration at 175 runners. The race has filled up in advance the past three years. Click here to register online.
Fun Stuff
Awards will again be offered to overall and age group winners, and we are already planning the menu for this year's post-race feast. I missed out on some gems at the Merrimack Trail Race that I really, really wanted to regift, but the post-race raffle is still sure to be...memorable.
Due to overwhelmingly positive feedback, we will be continuing our two-tier fee system. Our largest cost every year is shirts and that cost has increased fairly sharply. We have always tried to keep this an affordable race; rather than raise the entry fee across the board, we are allowing you to choose whether or not you want a shirt and pay accordingly. We will not be able to guarantee sizes after Sept. 1. Right now the planned shirt is high quality, short sleeve, cotton, and colored. That may change but it will only get nicer if we do change it.
